Gilbert Michael Daigneau, the founder of Go Natural Education, is also the owner of Go Natural Organics, an organic farm in Lakeland, Florida that grows tomatoes, eggplant, kale, carrots, leaf lettuces, and grass fed beef. The farm has a co-op like atmosphere and is open 24 hours day, 7 days a week to members who pick their own vegetables at their own convenience and pay according to the honor system.
Recently, Gil shared this photo of three types of lettuce that he’s growing. From left to right, you’ll see red leaf, green leaf, and Romaine. The lettuce is planted in one-gallon pots that are easy for folks to take home and put right on their kitchen tables. This makes it easy to pick leaves of fresh lettuce each night, and to enjoy a salad that couldn’t be any fresher.
Gil’s fresh lettuce is so good that when he was having some truck and trailer issues recently, he gave some to a Good Samaritan named Shorty, who you’ll see here on his tractor with Cricket, the little black dog in the basket. We’re grateful to them both for giving Gil a big helping hand and hoping that they enjoyed the lettuce on their tacos.
Finally, Gil just leased five acres of farmland near Palm Beach, Florida. The pine trees provide just the right amount of shade, and the neighbors who live in the nearby Palm Beach Polo Club are sure to enjoy the delicious and nutritious produce that’s for sale locally.
